King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
सम्पूजितो मघवता वसुश्नैदी श्वरो नृप: । पालयामास धर्मेण चेदिस्थ: पृथिवीमिमाम्,इन्द्रके द्वारा उपर्युक्त रूपसे सम्मानित चेदिराज वसुने चेदिदेशमें ही रहकर इस पृथ्वीका धर्मपूर्वक पालन किया
sampūjito maghavatā vasuśnaidīśvaro nṛpaḥ | pālayāmāsa dharmeṇa cedisthaḥ pṛthivīm imām ||
Honrado con la debida reverencia por Maghavat (Indra), el rey—señor de los Vasus y de la estirpe Śnaidi—permaneció en la tierra de Cedi y gobernó esta misma tierra conforme al dharma, sosteniendo el orden justo mediante un gobierno recto.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Legitimate kingship is measured by dharma: even when a ruler receives divine honour, his true worth is shown in protecting the realm justly and maintaining moral order.
Vaiśampāyana states that King Vasu, honoured by Indra, stayed in the Cedi country and ruled the earth/kingdom righteously, emphasizing his reputation as a dharmic sovereign.
