Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ

King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how lineage and birth-status are recorded as morally and socially significant facts in the epic, foreshadowing later dharma-questions about rightful conduct, loyalty, and identity within a divided royal family.

Daśa reports that Dhṛtarāṣṭra fathered one hundred sons led by Duryodhana, and additionally Yuyutsu (also called Karaṇa), marking the full set of Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s male offspring and noting Yuyutsu’s distinct maternal background.
