Kuru Lineage Inquiry and the Portrait of King Duḥṣanta’s Rule

Educational Q&A

Facilitating the hearing/recitation of sacred narrative for qualified listeners (here, Brāhmaṇas) on auspicious occasions is presented as a powerful dharmic act: it purifies sin, grants heavenly merit, and ultimately leads toward the highest attainment—eternal Brahman.

In a phalaśruti-style statement (a verse describing the ‘fruit’ of hearing/reciting), Vaiśampāyana declares the spiritual benefit accruing to a learned person who arranges or performs the recitation of this text during parvan (festival) occasions for Brahmins.
