Aṃśāvataraṇa-kathana (Catalog of Divine/Asuric Portions in Human Births) — Chapter 61
External magnificence can inflame inner vices: greed and envy arise when one fixates on possessing what belongs to another. The verse marks lobha as a moral turning point—an inner fault that later drives adharma and social rupture.
A splendid, jewel-adorned sabhā is constructed (for Arjuna, per the given context). On seeing it, Duryodhana becomes covetous and wishes to take it, revealing his flawed judgment and setting up future hostility.
