The verse highlights dharma as responsibility: a marriage alliance is framed as a purposeful, ethical commitment aimed at safeguarding one’s lineage and kin, and when the destined moment arrives, one must act to protect family and dependents.
Śaunaka addresses his sister, reminding her that her marriage to the sage Jaratkāru was arranged for a specific urgent purpose; he declares that the critical time has come and urges her to save and protect him and their relatives.
