Bhrigu Lineage Preface and the Pulomā–Agni Dialogue
सेयमित्यवगच्छामि नानृतं वक्तुमुत्सहे । नानृतं हि सदा लोके पूज्यते दानवोत्तम,यह वही है, ऐसा मैं जानता हूँ। इस विषयमें मैं झूठ नहीं बोल सकता। दानवश्रेष्ठ! लोकमें असत्यकी कभी पूजा नहीं होती है
seyam ity avagacchāmi nānṛtaṁ vaktum utsahe | nānṛtaṁ hi sadā loke pūjyate dānavottama ||
Comprendo que así es, en verdad. No me atrevo a decir falsedad en este asunto. Pues, oh el mejor de los Dānavas, la mentira jamás es digna de honor en el mundo.
शौनक उवाच
The verse upholds satya (truthfulness) as a foundational ethical value: one should not speak untruth, and falsehood is not truly worthy of respect in society.
Śaunaka addresses a being called ‘dānavottama’ and affirms his understanding of the matter, explicitly refusing to lie, grounding his stance in the general moral principle that untruth is not honored in the world.
