Śṛṅgī’s Curse on King Parikṣit

तस्मात् सम्मन्त्रयामोड्द्य भुजजड्रानामनामयम् | यथा भवेद्धि सर्वेषां मा न: कालो5त्यगादयम्,यथा नष्ट पुरा देवा गुढमग्निं गुहागतम् । इसलिये आज हमें अच्छी तरह विचार कर लेना चाहिये कि किस उपायसे हम सभी नाग कुशलपूर्वक रह सकते हैं। अब हमें व्यर्थ समय नहीं गँवाना चाहिये। हमलोगोंमें प्राय: सब नाग बुद्धिमान् और चतुर हैं। यदि हम मिल-जुलकर सलाह करें तो इस संकटसे छूटनेका कोई उपाय ढूँढ़ निकालेंगे; जैसे पूर्वकालमें देवताओंने गुफामें छिपे हुए अग्निको खोज निकाला था
tasmāt sammantrayāmoddya bhujagendrāṇām anāmayam | yathā bhaved dhi sarveṣāṁ mā naḥ kālo ’tyagād ayam, yathā naṣṭaṁ purā devā gūḍham agniṁ guhāgatam ||
Por tanto, deliberemos hoy con cuidado sobre los medios para asegurar el bienestar y la salvación de los señores de las serpientes. No dejemos que este tiempo se nos escape en vano. Si consultamos juntos, hallaremos una salida a este peligro, así como en tiempos antiguos los dioses descubrieron el fuego que se había perdido y yacía oculto en una cueva.
