भवत्वेष पतत्त्रीणामिन्द्रोडतिबलसत्त्ववान् । प्रसाद: क्रियतामस्य देवराजस्य याचत:,“अतः अत्यन्त बल और सत्त्वगुणसे सम्पन्न जो यह भावी पुत्र है, यह पक्षियोंका इन्द्र हो। देवराज इन्द्र आपके पास याचक बनकर आये हैं, आप इनपर अनुग्रह करें"
bhavatveṣa patattrīṇām indro ’tibalasaṃttvavān | prasādaḥ kriyatām asya devarājasya yācataḥ ||
Dijo Śaunaka: «Que éste—dotado de fuerza extraordinaria y de excelsa vitalidad—llegue a ser el Indra, el señor entre las aves. Puesto que Indra, rey de los dioses, ha venido a vosotros como suplicante, mostradle favor y concededle su ruego».
शौनक उवाच
Even the highest authority (Indra) may approach as a supplicant; ethical power is shown through gracious consent (prasāda) and the proper granting of status or boons to one worthy by strength and excellence.
Śaunaka urges that a powerful being yet to be born should become the chief among birds, and he asks that Indra—who has come requesting something—be shown favor by granting his petition.
