तान् सर्वान् विस्मयाविष्टो वीर्योन्मत्त: पुरन्दर: । अवहस्याभ्यगाच्छीघ्रं लड॒घयित्वावमन्य च,अपने बलके घमंडमें मतवाले इन्द्रने आश्वर्ययचकित होकर उन सबको देखा और उनकी हँसी उड़ाते हुए वे अपमानपूर्वक उन्हें लाँधघकर शीघ्रताके साथ आगे बढ़ गये
tān sarvān vismayāviṣṭo vīryonmattaḥ purandaraḥ | avahasyābhyagāc chīghraṃ laṅghayitvāvamanya ca ||
Dijo Śaunaka: Indra, Purandara, embriagado por el orgullo de su propio poder, los miró a todos con asombro; luego, burlándose de ellos y tratándolos con desprecio, pasó de prisa, sobrepasándolos como si no valieran nada.
शौनक उवाच
The verse cautions that pride in one’s strength (vīrya) can distort judgment and ethics, leading to mockery and contempt toward others—conduct that stands opposed to dharmic restraint and respect.
Indra (Purandara), astonished at what he sees, nevertheless becomes dismissive: he laughs at those present and, in a show of superiority, quickly passes them by, effectively ‘overstepping’ them with contempt.
