Garuḍa–Śakra Saṃvāda and the Retrieval of Amṛta (गरुड–शक्र संवादः अमृत-अपहरण-प्रसङ्गः)
स तद्विनाशसंत्रासादभिपत्य खगाधिप: । शाखामास्येन जग्राह तेषामेवान्ववेक्षया,तपस्यामें तत्पर हुए उन ब्रह्मर्षियोंको वटकी शाखामें लटकते देख गरुडने सोचा -- इसमें ऋषि लटक रहे हैं। मेरे द्वारा इनका वध न हो जाय। यह गिरती हुई शाखा इन ऋषियोंका अवश्य वध कर डालेगी।” यह विचारकर वीरवर पक्षिराज गरुडने हाथी और कछुएको तो अपने पंजोंसे दृढ़तापूर्वक पकड़ लिया और उन महर्षियोंके विनाशके भयसे झपटकर वह शाखा अपनी चोंचमें ले ली। उन मुनियोंकी रक्षाके लिये ही गरुडने ऐसा अदभुत पराक्रम किया था
sa tadvināśasaṃtrāsād abhipatya khagādhipaḥ | śākhām āsyena jagrāha teṣām evānvavekṣayā ||
Aterrado ante la posibilidad de su destrucción, el señor de las aves (Garuḍa) se precipitó y asió la rama con el pico, manteniendo la mirada fija en aquellos mismos sabios. Lo hizo por temor a que la rama al caer matara a los ascetas que pendían de ella, y así actuó para preservarlos del daño.
