aśrūṇi mumuce teṣāṃ darśanāt sā punaḥ punaḥ | ekaikaśyena tān sarvān krośamānān avapadyata ||
Dijo Vaiśampāyana: Al verlos, una y otra vez dejó caer lágrimas. Luego, uno por uno, se acercó a cada uno de aquellos niños que clamaban, respondiendo a sus llamadas y reuniéndose con ellos por turno—desbordada de pena y de amor en el reencuentro.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical power of compassion and familial responsibility: grief is not merely personal sorrow but becomes an impulse to respond to others’ suffering—she goes to each crying child individually, giving attention and comfort rather than remaining absorbed in her own emotion.
A woman sees the children and is overwhelmed; she repeatedly sheds tears. Hearing them cry out, she approaches them one by one, meeting each in turn—an emotionally charged reunion scene narrated by Vaiśampāyana.
