paraspara-vartamānān trupadasyātmajāṃ prati | yo no 'nupraviśen mohāt sa vai dvādaśa-vārṣikam ||
Arjuna dijo: «Nos turnamos, cada cual en su debido orden, respecto de la hija de Trupada; quien—por engaño—entre e irrumpa en el tiempo asignado a otro, habrá de sufrir, en verdad, una pena de doce años.»

The verse emphasizes disciplined conduct and respect for agreed boundaries: even within intimate family arrangements, dharma is upheld through clear rules, self-restraint, and a defined consequence for violations committed through moha (delusion).
Arjuna states a rule for the brothers regarding Trupada’s daughter (Draupadi): as they relate to her in turn, any brother who intrudes upon another’s allotted time—out of delusion—must accept a twelve-year penalty.
