अध्याय १८४ — भैक्षविभागः, शयनविधानम्, धृष्टद्युम्नस्य निवेदनम्
Alms Distribution, Night Lodging, and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Report
निःशब्दे तु कृते तस्मिन् धृष्टद्युम्नो विशाम्पते । कृष्णामादाय विधिवन्मेघदुन्दुभिनि:स्वन:,महाराज! बाजोंकी आवाज बंद हो जानेपर जब स्वयंवरसभामें सन्नाटा छा गया, तब विधिके अनुसार धृष्टद्युम्न द्रौयदीको (साथ) लेकर रंगमण्डपके बीचमें खड़ा हो मेघ और दुन्दुभिके समान स्वर तथा मेघ-गर्जनकी-सी गम्भीर वाणीमें यह अर्थयुक्त उत्तम एवं मधुर वचन बोला--
niḥśabde tu kṛte tasmin dhṛṣṭadyumno viśāmpate | kṛṣṇām ādāya vidhivan meghadundubhiniḥsvanaḥ ||
Cuando el silencio cayó sobre aquella asamblea, oh señor de los pueblos, Dhṛṣṭadyumna—habiendo tomado a Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) conforme al rito prescrito—se irguió en medio de la arena. Con una voz profunda y resonante, semejante al trueno de las nubes y al retumbar de los timbales, pronunció entonces palabras llenas de sentido, excelentes y dulces—señalando que el acto habría de proseguir bajo el amparo del dharma y de la debida formalidad, y no como mero espectáculo.
