Greed (lobha) drives people to cross boundaries and act without discernment; such transgression invites predictable consequences—here, being seized by powerful beings. The verse underscores restraint and respect for limits as part of ethical conduct.
The speaker reports that when humans, motivated by greed, wander into certain restricted areas, they are treated as intruders and are captured and held—specifically by Rākṣasas acting together (implying an organized enforcement of those boundaries).
