Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)
मानुषं विग्रहं कृत्वा साक्षादमरवर्णिनी । नीलोत्पलसमो गन्धो यस्या: क्रोशात् प्रधावति,वह ऐसी जान पड़ती मानो साक्षात् देवी दुर्गा ही मानवशरीर धारण करके प्रकट हुई हों। उसके अंगोंसे नील कमलकी-सी सुगन्ध प्रकट होकर एक कोसतक चारों ओर फैल रही थी
mānuṣaṁ vigrahaṁ kṛtvā sākṣād amaravarṇinī | nīlotpalasamo gandho yasyāḥ krośāt pradhāvati ||
Aunque asumió forma humana, se mostró con un resplandor verdaderamente divino, como si una diosa se manifestara ante sus ojos. De sus miembros emanaba una fragancia semejante a la del loto azul, que se extendía velozmente en todas direcciones por un krośa entero, señalando su presencia como auspiciosa y de otro mundo, e inspirando reverencia más que simple curiosidad.
