Saṃvaraṇa’s Collapse, Ministerial Aid, and Vasiṣṭha’s Approach to Sūrya

The verse highlights dharma as protective responsibility: a powerful warrior’s strength is to be directed toward safeguarding the vulnerable (a brāhmaṇa) and securing the common good (the city). It also underscores disciplined obedience to rightful authority—here, Kuntī’s command—so that power serves ethical ends rather than personal impulse.
Kuntī announces that, on her instruction, the foe-scorching hero (Bhīma) will perform a major undertaking intended to help a brāhmaṇa and to free the city from danger. The line functions as a resolve and a justification for the imminent action as both personal duty and public service.
