बालो<पि यौवन प्राप्तो मानुषेषु विशाम्पते । सवस्त्रिषु परं वीर: प्रकर्षमगमद् बली,राजन्! अवस्थामें बालक होनेपर भी वह मनुष्योंमें युवक-सा प्रतीत होता था। उस बलवान वीरने सम्पूर्ण अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंमें बड़ी निपुणता प्राप्त की थी
bālo ’pi yauvana-prāpto mānuṣeṣu viśāmpate | sarvāstreṣu paraṃ vīraḥ prakarṣam agamad balī rājān ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Aunque aún era un niño, oh señor de los pueblos, entre los hombres parecía como quien ya había alcanzado la juventud. Aquel héroe poderoso, oh rey, logró una excelencia sobresaliente en todas las armas y disciplinas marciales».
