Hiḍimbā’s Account and the Bhīma–Hiḍimba Engagement (आदि पर्व, अध्याय १४२)
धृतराष्ट उवाच दुर्योधन ममाप्येतद् हृदि सम्परिवर्तते । अभिप्रायस्य पापत्वान्नैवं तु विवृणोम्पहम्,धृतराष्ट्र बोले--दुर्योधन! मेरे हृदयमें भी यही बात घूम रही है; किंतु हमलोगोंका यह अभिप्राय पापपूर्ण है, इसलिये मैं इसे खोलकर कह नहीं पाता
dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca | duryodhana mamāpy etad hṛdi samparivartate | abhiprāyasya pāpatvān naiva tu vivṛṇomy aham ||
Dhṛtarāṣṭra dijo: «Duryodhana, ese mismo pensamiento también da vueltas una y otra vez en mi corazón. Pero, como nuestra intención es pecaminosa, no puedo decidirme a revelarla abiertamente.»
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse highlights ethical self-awareness: recognizing that an intention is pāpa (morally wrong) should restrain one from acting on it or even advancing it through speech. It also shows how inner knowledge of adharma can exist alongside weakness and attachment.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra confides to Duryodhana that he shares the same thought or plan that is troubling Duryodhana, but he hesitates to state it plainly because he knows their underlying intention is sinful.
