मन्त्रसंवरणे यत्न: सदा कार्योडनसूयता । आकारमभिरक्षेत चारेणाप्यनुपालित:,राजाको चाहिये कि वह दूसरोंके दोष प्रकाशित न करके अपनी गुप्त मन्त्रणाको सदा छिपाये रखनेकी चेष्टा करे। दूसरोंके गुप्तचरोंसे तो अपने आकारतकको (क्रोध और हर्ष आदिको सूचित करनेवाली चेष्टातकको) गुप्त रखे; परंतु अपने गुप्तचरसे भी सदा अपनी गुप्त मन्त्रणाकी रक्षा करे
mantrasaṃvaraṇe yatnaḥ sadā kāryo 'n asūyatā | ākāram abhirakṣet cāreṇāpy anupālitaḥ ||
Dijo Kaṇika: Un rey debe esforzarse siempre, sin envidia ni rencor, por mantener ocultos su consejo y sus deliberaciones.
