Learning and skill are to be presented with humility and proper protocol: even accomplished students seek the elder-king’s consent before displaying their abilities, reflecting discipline (śikṣā) as both competence and conduct.
Vaiśampāyana reports that the royal youths have completed their studies and now request the king’s permission to demonstrate what they have learned—setting the stage for a public display of their training.
