Ādi-parva Adhyāya 132 — Duryodhana’s Instructions to Purocana at Vāraṇāvata
Lākṣāgṛha Planning
na hi kiñcid adeyaṃ me gurave brahmavittama
The verse highlights the ethical ideal of complete commitment to one’s teacher: gratitude, humility, and readiness to offer whatever is asked as guru-dakṣiṇā, placing the guru’s claim above personal attachment.
Ekalavya addresses his teacher with reverence, declaring that nothing he owns is ‘ungivable’ to the guru—setting the stage for a request of guru-dakṣiṇā and testing the limits of devotion and duty.
