न सीदेतामदुःखाहें मा गमो भरतर्षभ । “इस मार्गपर केवल वायु चल सकती है तथा सिद्ध महर्षि भी जा सकते हैं। इस पर्वतराजपर चलती हुई ये दोनों राजकुमारियाँ कैसे कष्ट न पायेंगी? भरतवंशशिरोमणे! ये दोनों रानियाँ दुःख सहन करनेके योग्य नहीं हैं; अतः आप न चलिये'

na sīdetām aduḥkhāhe mā gamo bharatarṣabha

Dijo Vaiśampāyana: «Que estas dos, no habituadas al sufrimiento, no se vean afligidas. No prosigas, oh toro entre los Bharatas. Por este sendero sólo puede moverse el viento, y aun los sabios consumados apenas lo atraviesan; ¿cómo podrían estas dos princesas caminar sobre este rey de las montañas sin padecer? Oh joya cimera de la estirpe Bharata, estas dos reinas no están hechas para soportar tal dolor; por ello, no sigas adelante».
