Pāṇḍu’s Funeral Rites and Public Mourning
vartamānaḥ sukhe duḥkhaṃ yathāhaṃ prāpitas tvayā | tathā tvāṃ ca sukhaṃ prāptaṃ duḥkham abhyāgamiṣyati ||

Harm inflicted on an innocent being rebounds as suffering for the doer; pleasure gained or anticipated through wrongdoing is shadowed by karmic consequence, often striking at the very point of attachment and enjoyment.
A deer addresses the one who has caused it pain, declaring a curse-like warning: as the deer was pushed from comfort into misery, so the aggressor too will be struck by sorrow precisely when he is enjoying conjugal happiness with his beloved wife.
