श्रुत्वा च वचन तेषां निश्चित्य सह मन्सत्रिभि: । प्रसादयामास तथा शूलस्थमृषिसत्तमम्,उनकी बात सुनकर मन्त्रियोंके साथ परामर्श करके राजाने शूलीपर बैठे हुए उन मुनिश्रेष्ठको प्रसन्न करनेका प्रयत्न किया
śrutvā ca vacanaṃ teṣāṃ niścitya saha mantribhiḥ | prasādayāmāsa tathā śūlastham ṛṣisattamam ||
Al oír sus palabras, el rey reflexionó y, tras consultar con sus ministros, procuró debidamente apaciguar al más excelso de los sabios, que permanecía sentado sobre la estaca.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a dharmic model of rulership: a king should deliberate carefully, consult wise counsellors, and respond to spiritual or moral authority with restraint and conciliation rather than impulsive force.
After hearing what others have said, the king makes a considered decision with his ministers and then attempts to pacify a great sage who is described as being seated on a stake (śūla), indicating a severe, striking situation that calls for tact and reverence.
