Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)
आनृशंस्याच्च यद् ब्रूयां तच्छुत्वा कर्तुमहसि । यवीयसस्तव क्रातुर्भार्ये सुरसुतोपमे
ānṛśaṁsyāc ca yad brūyāṁ tac chrutvā kartum arhasi | yavīyasaḥ tava kratur bhārye surasutopame ||
Por compasión te diré lo que debe hacerse; al oírlo, debes cumplirlo. Oh esposa de tu hermano menor Kratu—oh tú, comparable a una hija de los dioses—escucha y obra en consecuencia.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse frames ethical instruction as arising from ānṛśaṁsya—compassion and non-cruelty—and emphasizes that hearing wise counsel should lead to responsible action (kartum arhasi).
Vaiśampāyana addresses the wife of the younger brother Kratu, praising her as ‘like a daughter of the gods,’ and introduces compassionate advice, urging her to listen and then do what is proper.
