ऑपन--माजल छा अकाल चतुर्राधिकशततमो< ध्याय: भीष्मकी सम्मतिसे सत्यवतीद्वारा व्यासका आवाहन और व्यासजीका माताकी आज्ञासे कुरुवंश-की वृद्धिके लिये विचित्रवीर्यकी पत्नियोंके गर्भसे संतानोत्पादन करनेकी स्वीकृति देना भीष्म उवाच पुनर्भरतवंशस्य हेतुं संतानवृद्धये । वक्ष्यामि नियतं मातस्तन्मे निगदत: शूणु
bhīṣma uvāca | punar bharatavaṁśasya hetuṁ santānavṛddhaye | vakṣyāmi niyataṁ mātas tan me nigadataḥ śṛṇu ||
Dijo Bhīṣma: “Madre, por preservar y acrecentar la estirpe de Bharata, expondré el curso establecido por la tradición. Escucha mientras lo declaro.”
