Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 103 — Dhṛtarāṣṭra–Gāndhārī Vivāha: Proposal, Consent, and the Vow
The verse highlights rajadharma and familial responsibility: when a prince comes of age, elders must act prudently to secure lawful succession and the welfare of the kingdom through appropriate marriage alliances.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Bhīṣma notices Vicitravīrya has reached youth and therefore resolves to arrange his marriage, setting in motion the events that will shape the Kuru lineage.
