वेदानधिजगे साजड्न् वसिष्ठादेष वीर्यवान् । कृतास्त्र: परमेष्वासो देवराजसमो युधि,आपका यह बलवान पुत्र महर्षि वसिष्ठसे छहों अंगोंसहित समस्त वेदोंका अध्ययन कर चुका है। यह अस्त्र-विद्याका भी पण्डित है, महान् धनुर्धर है और युद्धमें देवराज इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी है
vaiśampāyana uvāca | vedān adhijage ṣaḍaṅgān vasiṣṭhād eṣa vīryavān | kṛtāstraḥ parameṣvāso devarājasamo yudhi ||
Vaiśampāyana dijo: «Este poderoso ha dominado los Vedas junto con las seis disciplinas auxiliares bajo Vasiṣṭha. Está plenamente instruido en la ciencia de las armas, es un arquero supremo, y en batalla su valor iguala al de Indra, rey de los dioses».
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse presents an ideal of excellence that unites śāstra (Vedic learning with the six Vedāṅgas) and kṣātra (martial discipline). Ethical authority and leadership are implied to rest on both knowledge and controlled power, not on strength alone.
Vaiśampāyana is describing a powerful figure’s qualifications: he has completed Vedic study under the sage Vasiṣṭha, is accomplished in weapon-lore, is an outstanding archer, and is as formidable in battle as Indra.
