Con ofrendas santificantes, báñese a Mahādeva, consagrando el rito con el Praṇava (Oṁ). Luego, con vasijas puras de agua, viértase el agua sobre el Señor mientras se recitan mantras.
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-puja procedure to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It establishes abhiṣeka as a core limb of Liṅga-pūjā: Śiva is honored through sanctified substances and pure water poured with mantra, centering the rite on sacred sound and purity.
By prescribing worship through the Pranava and mantra, it points to Śiva as Pati—the supreme consciousness approached through śabda (mantric vibration) and devotion, who loosens pāśa (bondage) for the paśu (bound soul).
Mantra-abhiṣeka: pouring water from purified vessels while reciting the Pranava and Vedic/Śaiva mantras—an external pūjā act that supports inner Pāśupata-oriented concentration on Śiva.
