Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vainateya)

Concept: Ritual ‘placement/installation’ (nyāsa/pratiṣṭhā) aligns substance (ājya), vessel, deity, and mantra into a single operative sacramental field.

Vedantic Theme: Mantra-śakti and īśvara-sambandha: action becomes efficacious when joined with right intention and sacred invocation.

Application: Treat ritual implements as consecrated: prepare ājya properly, keep vessels pure, and mentally ‘install’ the intended devatā and mantra before offering.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Type: ritual space (homa-vedi with ājya and kalaśa)

FAQs

This verse indicates that Agni (Jātavedas) is ritually installed along with deities and mantras, making the offering a valid, properly invoked act rather than a mere physical act of pouring ghee.

It reflects the technical ritual framework—using a kalaśa, mantras, and Agni invocation—that underlies many Garuda Purana-prescribed rites performed for dharma and, contextually, for post-death observances.

When performing any traditional rite, prioritize correct intention and procedure—mantra discipline, proper invocation, and respectful handling of ritual elements—rather than treating it as a casual formality.
