Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda)
Concept: Discriminative understanding of progressive doṣa involvement (kapha→pitta→vāta) and targeted counter-measures.
Vedantic Theme: Viveka (discernment) applied to embodied life; knowledge used for alleviating duḥkha.
Application: Recognize signs of āma/sourness/obstruction and apply an abdominal paste of hiṅgu, tryūṣaṇa, and saindhava to kindle digestion and relieve blockage (with proper guidance).
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.168.42 (gulma/shūla and swedana); Garuda Purana 1.168.44-45 (day sleep for indigestion; warm water; incompatibilities)
This verse treats āma as a root factor behind acidity and blockage, showing that correcting digestion is central to restoring balance.
The teaching is practical and embodied: by reducing doṣic disturbance and digestive toxins, one maintains clarity and capacity for dharmic living.
For indigestion with gas/obstruction, traditional Ayurveda uses warming carminatives like hiṅgu and the ‘three pungents’; consult a qualified practitioner, especially with chronic or severe pain.
