Dhruva’s War with the Yakṣas and the Protection of the Holy Name
In this verse it is stated that the Yakṣas are more or less devotees of Lord Śiva. By this indication the Yakṣas may be taken to be the Himālayan tribes like the Tibetans.
Guhyakas are a class of semi-divine beings, commonly known as attendants and guardians associated with Kubera; this verse describes a Himalayan city populated by them.
In this episode Dhruva proceeds northward into the Himalayan region as part of his royal movement and encounter with regions inhabited by powerful celestial beings, setting the scene for the unfolding events of the chapter.
The verse highlights purposeful movement and courage—progressing steadily toward one’s duty while recognizing that the world contains realms and influences beyond ordinary experience.
