यो भवेत् पूर्वसंन्यासी तुल्यो वै धर्मतो यदि । तस्मै प्रणामः कर्तव्यो नेतराय कदाचन ॥१०॥

IAST Transliteration

yo bhavet pūrva-saṃnyāsī tulyo vai dharmato yadi | tasmai praṇāmaḥ kartavyo netarāya kadācana ||10||

Translation

If there is one who has earlier entered sannyāsa, and he is truly equal in dharma—conduct and discipline—then to him a salutation should be offered, and never to another who lacks such fitness.

Academic Translation

If there is one who is an earlier renunciant, and if he is indeed equal in dharma (conduct/discipline), to him a salutation should be made—never to another (who is not so qualified).
