ब्रह्महत्याश्वमेधाद्यैः पुण्यपापैर्न लिप्यते । चोदको बोधकश्चैव मोक्षदश्च परः स्मृतः ॥ इत्येषं त्रिविधो ज्ञेय आचार्यस्तु महीतले । चोदको दर्शयेन्मार्गं बोधकः स्थानमाचरेत् ॥ मोक्षदस्तु परं तत्त्वं यज्ज्ञात्वा परमश्नुते । प्रत्यक्षयजनं देहे संक्षेपाच्छृणु गौतम ॥ तेनेष्ट्वा स नरो याति शाश्वतं पदमव्ययम् । स्वयमेव तु सम्पश्येद्देहे बिन्दुं च निष्कलम् ॥५१–५४॥
ब्रह्म-हत्या-अश्वमेध-आद्यैः पुण्य-पापैः न लिप्यते । चोदकः बोधकः च एव मोक्ष-दः च परः स्मृतः । इति एषः त्रि-विदः ज्ञेयः आचार्यः तु मही-तले । चोदकः दर्शयेत् मार्गम् बोधकः स्थानम् आचरेत् । मोक्ष-दः तु परम् तत्त्वम् यत् ज्ञात्वा परम् अश्नुते । प्रत्यक्ष-यजनम् देहे संक्षेपात् शृणु गौतम । तेन इष्ट्वा सः नरः याति शाश्वतम् पदम् अव्ययम् । स्वयम् एव तु सम्पश्येत् देहे बिन्दुम् च निष्कलम् ।
brahmahatyāśvamedhādyaiḥ puṇyapāpair na lipyate | codako bodhakaś caiva mokṣadaś ca paraḥ smṛtaḥ || ityeṣaṃ trividho jñeya ācāryas tu mahītale | codako darśayen mārgaṃ bodhakaḥ sthānam ācaret || mokṣadas tu paraṃ tattvaṃ yaj jñātvā param aśnute | pratyakṣayajanaṃ dehe saṃkṣepāc chṛṇu gautama || teneṣṭvā sa naro yāti śāśvataṃ padam avyayam | svayam eva tu sampaśyed dehe binduṃ ca niṣkalam ||51–54||
One is not tainted by merits and demerits such as brahmin‑slaying and the horse‑sacrifice. The supreme Teacher is remembered as threefold: the impeller (codaka), the awakener (bodhaka), and the giver of liberation (mokṣada). Thus the ācārya on earth is to be known in three ways: the impeller shows the path; the awakener establishes one in the station of abiding; but the giver of liberation reveals the highest Reality, knowing which one attains the Supreme. Hear briefly, O Gautama, the “direct sacrifice” within the body: having performed it, a man goes to the eternal, imperishable state; and he should himself behold in the body the bindu and the partless (niṣkala).
By merits and demerits such as brahmin-slaying and the horse-sacrifice, one is not tainted. The ‘impeller’ (codaka), the ‘awakener’ (bodhaka), and the ‘giver of liberation’ (mokṣada) are remembered as the supreme (teacher). Thus the teacher on earth is to be known as threefold: the impeller should show the path; the awakener should cause one to practice the station (abidance); but the giver of liberation (reveals) the highest reality, knowing which one attains the Supreme. Hear in brief, O Gautama, the ‘direct sacrifice’ in the body. Having performed that sacrifice, a man goes to the eternal, imperishable state. Indeed, he should himself perceive in the body the bindu and the partless (niṣkala).
