ये पुनस्सर्वभावेन प्रपन्नाः परमेश्वरम् । ते हि जानंत्ययत्नेन शिवं परमकारणम्
ye punassarvabhāvena prapannāḥ parameśvaram | te hi jānaṃtyayatnena śivaṃ paramakāraṇam
But those who, with their whole being, take refuge in the Supreme Lord—those devotees indeed come to know effortlessly that Śiva is the Supreme Cause, the ultimate source of all.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: Not a site-specific (sthala) passage; it teaches that wholehearted śaraṇāgati (prapatti) to Parameśvara yields direct recognition of Śiva as the paramakāraṇa (supreme causal ground).
Significance: Frames inner pilgrimage: surrender culminates in effortless (ayatna) jñāna of Pati as the ultimate cause, a Siddhāntic marker of grace (anugraha).
Role: liberating
It teaches that complete śaraṇāgati (wholehearted surrender) to the Supreme Lord culminates in direct recognition of Śiva as Pati—the ultimate, independent Cause—granting clarity and liberation-oriented knowledge without strain.
Surrender may begin through saguna upāsanā—Linga worship, mantra, and devotion—yet its fruit is the inner certainty that the worshipped Śiva is the paramakāraṇa, transcending limited conceptions while remaining accessible through sacred forms.
The verse points to the practice of śaraṇāgati supported by japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and steady devotion; such sustained refuge makes realization ‘effortless’ by grace.
