वह्नौ रवौ तथा व्योम्नि भगवंतं शिवं यजेत्
vahnau ravau tathā vyomni bhagavaṃtaṃ śivaṃ yajet
One should worship Bhagavān Śiva in the sacred fire, in the sun, and likewise in the open sky—recognizing Him as the indwelling Lord manifest through these luminous supports.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Significance: Encourages recognition of Śiva’s vyāpti (pervasion) through luminous supports—fire, sun, and space—supporting daily worship even outside temples.
Type: gayatri
Role: teaching
Offering: dhupa
It teaches Shiva’s immanence: the devotee is to recognize Pati (Śiva) present within powerful cosmic lights—fire, sun, and space—so worship becomes both outer reverence and inner realization.
Fire, the sun, and the sky function as natural ‘supports’ (ālambana) for Saguna contemplation, guiding the mind toward Shiva’s formless reality—similar to how the Linga serves as a sacred focus for realizing the all-pervading Lord.
Offer mental worship (mānasa-pūjā) or simple salutations while contemplating Shiva in agni and sūrya; during japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), stabilize awareness in the vastness of vyoma (space) as Shiva’s presence.
