śarvasyāṃtaḥpuradvāri sārdhaṃ parijanaiḥ sthitaḥ | sarveśvarasamaprakhyassarvāsuravimardanaḥ
Standing at the gate of Śarva’s inner palace together with his attendants, he appeared like the Supreme Lord of all, the crusher of every host of asuras.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vīrabhadra
Type: stotra
The verse presents Śiva (Śarva) as Sarveśvara—supreme sovereignty expressed as protection: the Lord stands at the threshold, symbolically guarding the inner sanctum of consciousness and crushing asuric forces (ego, violence, delusion) that obstruct liberation.
It supports Saguna contemplation: Shiva is envisioned with majesty and attendants, approachable through devotional worship. In Linga-worship, this same Sarveśvara is invoked as the indwelling Lord who removes inner obstacles and grants grace (anugraha).
A practical takeaway is protective japa and dhyāna: repeat the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while visualizing Shiva as Sarveśvara at the ‘gateway’ of the heart, and offer Tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a reminder of burning away asuric impulses.
