When the constellation and the auspicious yogas are favorable and free from all defects, having first bestowed grace, one should then impart—according to the prescribed rule—this knowledge of Mine. With proper intonation, in seclusion, and with a mind made exceedingly serene, one should correctly recite; and having recited and caused it to be recited, one should transmit that supreme mantra belonging to us both (guru and disciple).
Lord Shiva (teaching the discipline of mantra-initiation and transmission)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
It teaches that Shiva-knowledge and the liberating mantra are not merely intellectual: they are transmitted through grace (anugraha), right procedure (vidhi), and inner purity, aligning with Shaiva Siddhanta where Pati (Shiva) grants release through His favor and right upadesha.
Though the verse speaks of mantra and knowledge, it supports Saguna upasana—where Shiva is approached through revealed mantra, disciplined recitation, and consecrated practice—often centered on Linga worship, japa, and guru-given instruction.
Choose an auspicious, defect-free time; receive the teaching by grace; perform mantra-japa in solitude (ekanta) with correct intonation (svara), and transmit/receive it through proper guru-disciple recitation—i.e., a diksha-style, rule-governed mantra practice.
