Or else, know this imperishable Reality as the tri-guṇic principle to be approached: understand Māyā to be Prakṛti (Nature), and the wielder of Māyā to be Maheśvara (the Supreme Lord Shiva).

Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It distinguishes between Māyā/Prakṛti (the tri-guṇic field that binds the soul) and Maheśvara (the Lord who governs Māyā), directing the seeker to recognize Shiva as the imperishable Pati who enables liberation.
Linga-worship trains the mind to turn from the changing tri-guṇic world (Prakṛti/Māyā) toward the Mayin—Maheśvara—who is indicated by the Linga as the transcendent Lord, accessible through devotion and right knowledge.
Contemplate daily that Māyā is Prakṛti and Shiva is its Lord, and support that contemplation with japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to shift identification away from the guṇas toward Maheśvara.
