“O preceptor of the worlds, perform for him the birth-rites, beginning with the Jātakarma. And, O Ordainer Brahmā, be pleased to declare in full all the fruits that are said to arise from these rites performed for a newborn.”
An attendant/deity addressing Brahma (Vidhātā) as Jagadguru (contextual inference within Rudrasaṃhitā narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
It affirms that life’s sacred transitions (saṁskāras), beginning at birth, are purificatory acts that align the embodied soul with dharma—supporting inner refinement so devotion and knowledge can mature toward Shiva-realization.
By emphasizing ordained rites and their fruits, the verse supports the Shiva Purana’s broader teaching that disciplined, dharmic living prepares one for Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-pūjā) and, through purity and grace, for higher contemplation.
The immediate practice is performing prescribed saṁskāras like jātakarma with mantra and purity; as a Shaiva takeaway, one may pair such rites with daily Shiva remembrance—Pañcākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) dhāraṇa where appropriate.
