देवस्तुतिः—नन्दिकेश्वरविज्ञप्तिः—शम्भोः समाधेः उत्थानम्
Devas’ Hymn, Nandikeśvara’s Petition, and Śiva’s Rising from Samādhi
तारकेण कृतं शंभो देवानां परमाद्भुतम् । कष्टात्कष्टतरं देवा विज्ञप्तुं सर्व आगताः
tārakeṇa kṛtaṃ śaṃbho devānāṃ paramādbhutam | kaṣṭātkaṣṭataraṃ devā vijñaptuṃ sarva āgatāḥ
O Śambhu, what Tāraka has done to the devas is utterly astonishing—more grievous than the worst calamity. Therefore all the devas have assembled and come to lay their petition before You.
Narrator (Sūta Gosvāmin) conveying the devas’ appeal within the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa narrative
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
It highlights śaraṇāgati (taking refuge): when beings are overwhelmed by suffering and adharma rises, the devas turn to Śambhu as Pati—the supreme protector and restorer of order—showing that grace responds to sincere supplication.
The devas approach Śambhu as the accessible Saguna Lord who hears prayers and acts in the world; Linga-worship similarly trains the devotee to approach Shiva with humility, confession of limitation, and focused devotion.
The takeaway is petitionary bhakti: approach Shiva with the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a prayerful mind; offer water and bhasma/tripuṇḍra with sincerity, asking for inner steadiness and the removal of obstacles.
