कुमाराद्भुतचरितवर्णनम् — Description of Kumāra’s Wondrous Deeds
दृष्ट्वा तं कार्तिकस्सोऽरमारुरोह स तं प्रभुः । धृतब्रह्माण्डगरिमा महासूतिकरो गुहः
dṛṣṭvā taṃ kārtikasso'ramāruroha sa taṃ prabhuḥ | dhṛtabrahmāṇḍagarimā mahāsūtikaro guhaḥ
Seeing him, Lord Kārtikeya at once mounted that celestial steed. Guha—the mighty commander, whose weight is as though he bears the heaviness of the cosmos—ascended too, manifesting the grandeur of divine power.

It portrays Kārtikeya (Guha) as a manifest channel of Śiva’s divine might—his “cosmic heaviness” indicates not mere physical weight but the majesty of a deity who upholds dharma and subdues adharma through Śiva’s grace.
In Shaiva Siddhanta, Saguna manifestations support the devotee’s approach to the Nirguna Supreme; honoring Kārtikeya as Śiva’s son and commander complements Linga worship by deepening devotion to Śiva’s compassionate governance of the world.
A practical takeaway is to remember Guha/Skanda before undertaking disciplined sādhana—chanting “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with focused reverence and offering vibhūti (Tripuṇḍra) as a sign of alignment with Śiva’s protective power.
