Though entreated by the gods and the sages from afar, Kārtikeya remained at a distance. Keeping apart by three yojanas, he stayed firmly established in his own place.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights steadfastness (dhṛti) and disciplined detachment: even when revered beings plead, Kārtikeya remains established in his chosen station, reflecting a Shaiva ideal of unwavering focus toward dharma and inner resolve under Shiva’s grace.
Kārtikeya’s firmness mirrors the devotee’s steadiness in Saguna Shiva worship—remaining anchored in one’s vowed practice (vrata) and appointed sacred seat (āsana/sthāna), rather than being swayed by external persuasion.
A practical takeaway is niyama and āsana-sthairya: maintain a fixed place and routine for japa (especially Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and meditation, cultivating calm distance from distractions—like Kārtikeya keeping a deliberate separation.
