गणेशाभिषेक-वरदान-विधानम् | Gaṇeśa’s Consecration, Boons, and Prescribed Worship
यावत्पुनस्समायाति वर्षान्ते च चतुर्थिका । तावद्व्रतं च कर्तव्यं तव चैव ममाज्ञया
yāvatpunassamāyāti varṣānte ca caturthikā | tāvadvrataṃ ca kartavyaṃ tava caiva mamājñayā
“Until the fourth lunar day (Caturthī) returns again at the end of the year, you must observe this vow—so shall it be, by your commitment and by My command.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
Offering: naivedya
It emphasizes niyama (disciplined observance): sustained vrata performed for a fixed sacred period, under Shiva’s injunction, purifies the devotee and steadies bhakti toward Pati (Shiva).
A vrata is typically supported by regular Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā, offerings, and remembrance—showing that devotion is not momentary but maintained until the prescribed tithi returns.
Maintain the vow continuously until the specified Caturthī at year’s end, supporting it with daily Shiva-upāsanā (japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” Linga worship, and purity disciplines) as appropriate to one’s capacity.
