शिवविहारवर्णनम् (Śivavihāra-varṇana) — “Description of Śiva’s Divine Pastimes/Sojourn”
Yet no son has been born to Him; we do not know the cause of it here. Why, then, does the Lord of the gods (Śiva) allow such delay?
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Kumārakhaṇḍa episode to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It points to the mystery of Śiva’s grace (anugraha): outcomes like progeny are not merely mechanical results of effort, but unfold according to the Lord’s higher order and timing, inviting surrender and steadiness in devotion.
Calling Śiva “Deveśvara” emphasizes Saguna Śiva as the personal Lord who governs the cosmos; Linga-worship is a way to approach this accessible, compassionate sovereignty even when reasons for events remain unseen.
The practical takeaway is patient japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady bhakti, accepting delay without agitation and offering the desire and its frustration back to Śiva.
