The keepers of the transport animals duly fed them—horses, elephants, donkeys, camels, and the offspring of Surabhī (cattle)—with food suited to each, as prescribed.
The attendants of draughtanimals fed the horses, elephants, donkeys, camels and oxen their appropriate food.
Dharma includes responsible stewardship: those who depend on us—animals as well as people—must be maintained properly and according to their needs.
As Bharata’s large force is hosted, even the animals of the convoy are systematically fed by assigned attendants.
Orderly care and compassion expressed through practical duty (sevā as dharma).
