दशरथस्य अन्त्येष्टि-विधानम् — Dasaratha’s Funeral Rites and Ayodhya’s Mourning

एवं विलपमानं तं भरतं दीनमानसम्।अब्रवीद्वचनं भूयो वसिष्ठस्तु महामुनिः।।2.76.10।।

evaṁ vilapamānaṁ taṁ bharataṁ dīna-mānasam | abravīd vacanaṁ bhūyo vasiṣṭhas tu mahā-muniḥ || 2.76.10 ||

As Bharata lamented in this way, his mind cast down, the great sage Vasiṣṭha spoke to him once again.

To Bharata who was thus lamenting with a dejected mind, the great ascetic Vasistha once again said:

V
Vasiṣṭha
B
Bharata

Dharma requires returning the grieving mind to right action through repeated, patient counsel—steadiness is a moral necessity, not merely an emotion-management skill.

Bharata continues to mourn, and Vasiṣṭha re-engages him to move the situation toward the required royal rites.

Persevering compassion: Vasiṣṭha does not abandon the grieving Bharata but guides him again and again toward duty.
