Shloka 2.68.17

दूतप्रेषणम् — Dispatch of Messengers to Kekaya (Bharata’s Recall)

आभिकालं ततः प्राप्य ते बोधिभवनाच्च्युताम्।पितृपैतामहीं पुण्यां तेरुरिक्षुमतीं नदीम्।।2.68.17।।

te prasannodakāṃ divyāṃ nānā-vihaga-sevitām | upātijagmur vegena śaradaṇḍāṃ janākulām || 2.68.15 ||

They swiftly passed the divine Śaradaṇḍā, whose waters were calm, frequented by many kinds of birds, and thronged with people.

From there they reached a village known as Abhikala and crossed the sacred Ikshumati flowing from Bodhibhavana mountain. This region was enjoyed by fathers and forefathers of Dasaratha.

Dharma is disciplined movement toward a rightful goal—public places and comforts do not distract one from obligation.

The messengers continue their route, crossing/going beyond the Śaradaṇḍā river and pressing onward quickly.

Urgency joined with restraint—speed without indulgence.
