Shloka 2.64.43
शब्दवेध्य-अनर्थः, ऋषिशापः, दशरथस्य प्राणत्यागः (The Sound-Target Tragedy, the Sage’s Curse, and Dasaratha’s Death)
यां गतिं सगरश्शैब्यो दिलीपो जनमेजयः।नहुषो दुन्दुमारश्च प्राप्तास्तां गच्छ पुत्रक।।।।
yāṃ gatiṃ sagaraś śaibyo dilīpo janamejayaḥ |
nahuṣo dundumāraś ca prāptās tāṃ gaccha putraka ||2.64.43||
Go, dear son, to that very state which Sagara, Śaibya, Dilīpa, Janamejaya, Nahusha, and Dundumāra attained.
'You will attain, my son, the same supreme state achieved by Sagara, Saibya, Dilipa, Janamejaya, Nahusha and Dundumara.
Dharma is taught through exemplars: the father invokes renowned figures as benchmarks of meritorious destiny, linking ethical life with honored outcomes.
In blessing his son, the father references famous royal exemplars to describe the elevated realm Śravaṇa should attain.
Respect for tradition and exemplarity: moral instruction is anchored in remembered models from itihāsa lineage.
