Keeping silence and restraining his mind, the king’s son slept together with Vaidehī in the auspicious sanctuary of Viṣṇu.

Dharma is restraint (niyama): speech-control, mind-control, and keeping one’s life aligned with sacred space and sacred intention.

Rāma and Sītā spend the night in disciplined observance within Viṣṇu’s temple as part of the sanctified preparation for the coming coronation.

Maryādā (propriety) expressed through austerity and composure, even at a moment of impending royal glory.
